Welcome to Reading Club, where we read in the broadest sense of the word. On Even months we read pages, on Odd months we read ground.
In November 2024, I founded Snæfellsjökul fyrir forseta (SFF)’s Reading Club. The themes of our readings are interrelation with our ecosystem, rights of nature, human and more than human collaboration. Books are nominated by our members and chosen by voting - in line with SFF’s origin story as Iceland’s first presidential campaign for a nonhuman being. On alternate months, I write a prompt, an ecosystem reading, a thought experiment. An extension of the concept of “reading” to encourage club members to tune into their ecosystem and which, theoretically, doesn’t require a reader to be human in order to complete the reading.
